High End Fashion and the Economic Recession

When the American economy took a nosedive in 2008, now known as the "Great Recession", economists and analysts made predictions on the projected values of consumer goods for the coming years. Luckily for us Drobers, "High End Fashion" has remained largely untouched by the recession, just as those analysts predicted.

Worldwide, brands like Gucci, Prada, and Versace have shown burgeoning sales while other consumer goods have dropped dramatically. As the stock market and home prices continue to rise, and unemployment begins to fall, Americans are spending more money.

In early 2013, Hermès International reported a 21% increase in sales in the Americas for their fourth quarter. This trend continued with brands like Tiffany and Cartier, which makes us very happy Drobers to know that our favorites in fashion are alive and well, and definitely here to stay.

The impact of high end fashion isn't just on the runway and in your DROBE, as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City brings in 850 million annually, and that's nothing to laugh at. We could buy a lot of dresses with that. A lot.

Though this trend is expected to slow down, it still means that these high end brands are safe from the recession, and that they will continue to provide us with beautiful clothes and a style to die for. Maybe it's because their names precede their brands, or maybe its because their clothes are just that good. Either way, we at myDROBE are ecstatic.

The Daily Drobe: Throwback Thursday is Renewing the Classy

The rain is still here and we're keeping it classy! Reflecting on the passing of Ottavio Missoni, we want to explore how fashion pioneers have evolved classic wear throughout the years and went on creating more hybrid, lush and vibrant styles. Missoni himself was a track and field star in the London 1948 Summer Olympics, and thus kick-started his line with athletic wear. His innovational takes are countless, from the classic kaleidoscopic designs to his use of fabrics such as wool, silk, linen and rayon. Missoni makes us rethink the classy rainwear: why not make it chic, fun and adventurous?

Let us celebrate by wearing Missoni today.

The Daily Drobe: Blizzard, Who? Blizzard, What? Blizzard, Where?

Once again NYC was over prepared... with warnings of a blizzard, most of us were looking forward to find the streets covered in white, but alas, twas a grey morning today.
As always, your Drobe Team was avidly prepared with the perfect blizzard look.
Don't fret, even if it's only going to snow for about ten minutes tonight, we better we would share this perfection with you.
You can wear it today, save it for next November or better yet, pack it in your cutest T. Anthony Luggage and jet off to Vail or Sun Valley, where we just KNOW the snow is plentiful. Chic apres ski look over leggings on a day you most certainly didn't go skiing!?
Done and done.
