Louboutin v. YSL

We could have guessed that those red-soled pumps from Louboutin would be something to fight over. After all, they are the fabulous staple of the oh-so-glamorous French designer shoe brand that we at MyDROBE absolutely lust over.

When Yves Saint Laurent debuted their monochrome red pump back in 2011, the visionaries behind the trailblazing Louboutin trademark grew red-hot and filed a lawsuit against YSL, claiming that the YSL monochrome red pumps infringed upon the trademark designs of the company. Nearly a year later, however, the case has settled - as long as YSL keeps the sole the same color as the rest of the shoe.

We're just happy this has all settled out. More red-soled pumps for us, right?!

We at MyDROBE think we have found the perfect style solution for this all-night extravaganza, a look that is stylish, figure-flattering and totally chic.

Current/Elliot Bids Us Adieu

You know those acid-washed denim jeans with the boyfriend cut that we all seem to love so much? Well, it looks like we'll have to look elsewhere for our fix of loose-fitted boyfriend pants because the jeans brand Current/Elliot has recently been terminated.

Emily Current and Merrit Elliot, the two visionaries behind Current/Elliot, released a statement this past Thursday stating that the two do not plan to continue their partnership any longer. The brand, which was launched in 2008 with the help of Serge Azria, may be dwindling, but the two women say they still plan to put their fashionable minds together in the future for different design projects.

Do not fear, Drobers. We remain hopeful that the two will join forces yet again to create some more chic-meets-comfy denim masterpieces. For now, we'll just have to stock up on their merchandise during those post-Christmas sales.

The Power Couple

Now that the holiday season is upon us and we find ourselves going from one party to the next and ... couples are forming (gulp). But, let's be honest, is there anything better than snuggling up to that special someone in the middle of winter? We think NOT.

But MyDROBE thinks its even better if you can get to Power Couple Status.  It is certainly a formidable challenge that few have accomplished... which makes them shine that much brighter (think diamonds). And when it comes to power couples (especially in the fashion world), who can think of anyone else but the stunning Victoria and David Beckham. And as if we didn't see it coming, their 10 year old son is a gorgeous little style icon himself.  Romeo Beckham's new campaign for Burberry reminds us that you can do anything at any age... and to keep saying 'I think I can, I think I can, I think I can' ... and oh yeah, to have your fathers chiseled jaw line and your mothers fashion sense.
Check! Check! And Check!

SPOILER ALERT - #OMFGG + #Dj

Last night, the masterpiece that was Gossip Girl shined it's final light.  Regardless if you were obsessed with SvdW's blonde locks, Blairs conniving ways, Chucks playboy attitude, or Brooklynite Dan, you know that deep down, you're already writhing at the idea that 9PM next Monday you will not watch a new episode.  Okay, we get it– we are just going to have to deal with the loss, but fortunately their style lives forever.  From Serena's sequined jackets to Chuck's Charvet scarves, the show was one big continuous #DROBEjob.  I mean, Christian Louboutin even made & named a shoe after Blake Lively– and we all know he had to go with "The Blake" because he already had the "Serena."  In closing, don't mourn the loss of perfectly ended show, instead, celebrate the fact that now you have six full seasons of pre done #DROBEjobs– and you know they all changed outfits at least three times throughout episodes...

Winter Floral

On a day like today... when the sun isn't shining, you're running out of XMas shopping time and worst of all, Gossip Girl has ended... you think to yourself - WHAT MORE COULD GO WRONG!? Well we are here to bring a little color to your life and turn that frown upside down! MyDROBE is such a fan of these Winter Florals - bringing happiness to people to everywhere - some might say, we are fashion's Saint Nicholas.
You're welcome.

Gorgeous Gowns, Fabulous Parties

This season's most high-profile parties are among us, so we think it's about time that we nod our heads to some of the beautiful dresses that we've seen, from Diane Kruger's delicate sheer frock to Anne Hathaway's dominatrix revival gown. Some notable parties that have taken place these past few weeks include the Museum of Modern Art's fifth annual Film Benefit and the Lés Miserables film premiere in New York City. Whatever the party, though, we were blown away by the glam, the beauty and the overwhelming exhibition of each woman's own personal style.

Above are four totally MyDROBE-worthy looks. Diane Kruger wears a sheer gown with white detailing and Anne Hathaway salutes a gothic-inspired aesthetic, complete with knee-high leather boots and sultry red lips. Georgina Chapman rocks a short-and-sweet black lace mini dress while Amanda Seyfriend opts for a full-beaded gold bodice with a gold-plated belt.

Keep it up, ladies - we'll take some notes.

Greeting the Holiday Season in Style

Since the Holiday Season is already upon us, it is time to pick out our outfits for those countless family gatherings and holiday parties. We at MyDROBE have noticed a lot of lace on the runways this season, and we think a simple lace dress and a stunning lace blouse would both be fantastic staples of a Drober's holiday wardrobe!

Not only does lace add sophistication to any outfit - the cue image of a rooftop soiree in Manhattan - lace is a classic fabric that can be edgy, modern and simple all at the same time.

Let us know what styles you plan to rock this season at https://twitter.com/MyDROBE!

Monique Lhuillier Pre-Fall 2013

Los Angeles-based designer Monique Lhuillier recently unveiled her gorgeous Pre-Fall 2013 line, and we at MyDROBE are totally loving it. By mixing hard lines with delicate fabrics, these designs show that the perfect fusion of tough-girl-style with sweet silhouettes can be beautiful, stylish and entirely fierce.

What's your opinion of some of these looks? Let us know what you think at https://twitter.com/MyDROBE!

Fashion Meets Art in a Hollywood Fashion Collaboration

Hollywood, California hosted the celebration of the recent fashion collaboration between the novice high-end fashion boutique, Just One Eye, The Row and Damien Hirst. Among the attendees for this art-meets-fashion celebration were Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen - the two gorgeous faces behind The Row's classic-meets-grungy fashion line - and other notable artists and designers.

A highlight of the party featured twelve of The Row's hand-painted Nile crocodile backpacks, which were each signed by Damien Hirst. Each bag is being sold for $55,000 - I guess we'll just live fashionably through the Olsen twins - and can be found on Just One Eye's ecommerce site.

Don't fret too much, Drobers. If we're really good, maybe Santa will bring us one.

In the Cut[25]

Last night, the MyDROBE team made a trip to SoHo for cupcakes and cocktails at Yigal Azrouel's Cut25.  While we were familiar with the designer– and his diffusion label– it was our first time actually going to the boutique and "experiencing" the clothes.  Interesting combinations of leather, wool, tartans, and almost anything else you can think of for the extremely stylish DROBER & DROBETTE.

The event was a joint party hosted by Yigal and the new fashion app, Snapette.  Although we didn't get to meet Yigal, we were fortunate enough to meet Caitlin Hicks, Marketing & Business Manager from Snapette, who was in a full and one of a kind DVF ensemble - which was DROBEworthy, of course.
plaid & leather jacket and skirt combo / wool & leather varsity jacket

Even though it was a first for us in the boutique, Cut25 definitely made its way onto our #HolidayLustList – that's right, we are compiling a special holiday themed LustList just for all you special little DROBERS out there, so be sure to check back in very soon!

MUSIC MONDAY: A few of our favorites to kick off the week.

MAKE SURE YOUR VOLUME IS TURNED UP!

Dover Street Market in NYC

It looks like New York City is about to become home to Dover Street Market's newest location, and we're so glad to hear it! Rei Kawakubo, the creator behind the Japanese fashion label Comme Garçons - you know, the brand behind those fabulous, punk-inspired designs with the over-exaggerated silhouettes and multitude of fabrics - revealed that the company has gone under contract to own a massive, seven-story building on Lexington Avenue in midtown Manhattan to house their latest store.

Kawakubo, who has partnered with both Louis Vuitton and H&M, is no newcomer to the New York fashion scene. She has pioneered successful storefronts in SoHo and Chelsea, all while maintaining other storefronts in places like Tokyo and London.

Lucky for us, the store is scheduled to open in December of 2013. Should we start writing our Christmas lists for next year? We just might!

Burberry Pre-Fall 2013 Designs

Designer Christopher Bailey spearheaded Burberry's new Pre-Fall 2013 line by taking those beloved Burberry designs and colors - will we ever get tired of that tartan pattern? -  and giving them a fresh face. MyDROBE loves his use of different leathers and furs mixed in with high-end fabrics featuring industrial and sequined detailing. It's sophisticated, edgy but totally glamorous all at the same time.

Above are some of our favorite looks from the new line. Did Christmas come early this year? We surely think so!

Stilettos on a Milk Farm

You'd think that a dairy farm would be the last place you'd find some of the fashion industry's most high-profile executives, but then you'd be forgetting about the recent restoration project of George Malkemus and Tony Yurgaitis.

The businessmen, who by day manage those fabulous Italian stilettos from Manolo Blahnik that we absolutely lust over, have put their time, money and passion into managing Arethusa Farm, a business initiative that has us raising our eyebrows.

Despite our initial reactions - cue the image of Carrie Bradshaw sinking into some pasture mud in her six-inch Manolo heels - we're starting to think that Arethusa Farm has the potential to be totally fabulous.

A chic cow farm? After all, if anyone could do it, we'd put our money on these guys.

The Art Basel at Miami Beach

Louis Armstrong said, "There is no such thing as 'on the way out' as long as you are still doing something interesting and good; you're in the business because you're breathing" which could not be more true than at an event like the oh so inspiring Art Basel. Oh, so you're in Manhattan realizing that that fall jacket just isn't cutting it anymore? Well, hop on the first non-stop flight to Miami and join the other art and fashion enthusiasts who are enjoying the sunshine, the beach and, most importantly, the 11th annual Art Basel art show.

The show exhibits more than 2,000 individual artists and around 260 art galleries from continents all across the globe, including North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The show highlights the talents of both household-name artists and up-and-coming artists whose individual works are the talk of the art world.  From sculptures, collages, paintings to fashion pieces, Art Basel has it all... so why aren't you there... or more importantly, why am not there?

At first, we know you're wondering why we would cover this because MyDROBE mainly discusses  more fashionable topics, but that's just it!! There couldn't be a more perfect example of fashion.  Art is fashion, and fashion is art, remember? Not only that, but the next three days are filled with events like last night's Chanel and Vanity Fair parties or the Le Baron party that changes location every night... are you drooling yet? Champagne, sun, art, fabulous people and clothing!? Yes please!

Although we aren't entirely keen on the experts' artistic terminology - like really, what's a "Jugendstil art piece?" - we appreciate beauty, talent and artistic vision when we see it. Beinvenido a Miami Drobers!

Like Mother Like Daughter: The Modeling Legacy Continues

Jerry Hall and her youngest daughter, Georgia May Jagger, recently shot a fashion campaign with Sunglass Hut, creating the newest addition to the fashion portfolio of this mother-daughter duo. Hall, an iconic American actress and model who is known for her long-term romance with The Rolling Stone's frontman, Mick Jagger, has had a long career in the fashion and modeling industry with front-page spreads in both Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Her daughter, Georgia, has also dipped her feet into the modeling industry by doing work for Hudson Jeans and Madonna's Material Girl brand.

The newest campaign, which seeks to honor the love and respect between mothers and daughters, features the two women hugging, laughing and celebrating their shared passion for fashion. Jagger, who signed with Sunglass Hut last June as the new face of the company, already has plans to appear in Just Cavalli fragrance ads in February 2013.

We love when a mother's fashion legacy is continued through her daughter, but it is even better when the daughter not only appears in front of the camera but also behind it. Jagger has apprenticed with Matt Irwin, an acclaimed photographer whose work has been featured in a variety of fashion publications all around the world, to try her hand at another industry skill.

Above are some of our favorite celebrity mother-daughter duos, including a photo featuring Hall and Jagger from their newest Sunglass Hut campaign. So fashionable, so sweet, and so adorable!

The fashion world is buzzing about Greg Chait, the winner of this year’s prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize - a generous $300,000 and the opportunity for business mentoring. Arguably more important than the money prize, however, is the tremendous publicity that comes with being a Fashion Fund recipient, one of the highest honors for up-and-coming designers.
Though Chait debuted his line The Elder Statesman five years ago, his career is just getting started. And based on the success of past Fashion Fund winners like Thakoon and Alexander Wang, combined with Chait’s obvious talent as a designer, we know that he has a very exciting career ahead of him.
MyDROBE loves Chait’s cozy knit sweaters, which have become a symbol of The Elder Statesman. Cute and comfy? Yes please!
