Humans of New York vs. DKNY

If you live in New York, have been to New York, or just love seeing quirky, sarcastic, and evocative images... you should know about Humans of New York.

For those of you who don't know, this blog captures the soul, sense of humor, and flavor of New York. Not the rich and famous, but the nitty gritty.
All images property of Humans of New York
Recently Brandon Stanton, the photographer behind the lens of Humans of New York, was apprached by DKNY to assist them in their new campaign. DKNY wanted to purchase 300 of Brandon's photos at $50 a piece to display in their store windows. He politely declined thinking this was slightly below standard.

You can guess what happened next... Images surfaced of Brandon's photographs being used without his consent in DKNY's Bangkok store (below). Social Media OUTRAGE ensued!

Brandon went public and requested 100k to Brooklyn YMCA kids to go to Summer camp to undo the wrong done. Hate mail messages flooded DKNY's facebook page including Carolina Herrera who wrote 'WTF Donna Karan!"... We were surprised by that one! Sassy!

DKNY's PR responded stat with a public apology and a check for 25k to the kids. Brandon gave up the quest, accepted the check, and gave DKNY the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake.

Social media won and Brooklyn YMCA now has some happy campers!
Proving we can never underestimate the power of social media!

But its ok Donna, we still love your clothes...

Oh Celine...

I have been bored with my bag for months now... I picked it up at a designer market in Bangkok, Thailand. For those of you who have been to Thailand, you probably know that a designer market does not necessarily mean that they sell designer products... let's be honest.

This Céline multicolored dream, in smooth calfskin, seems like the perfect new bag for me, and I've been lusting it for weeks! Timeless, classic and simply fantastic and sold right here!! That's right Drobers, we won't send you to Thailand for your next actual designer bag fix.

The Oscars: Red Carpet Review

Can we just say Jennifer Lawrence has come a long way from Teen Vogue
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Haute Couture
White Knights
White took over the red carpet and we were pleasantly surprised...
Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Haute Couture + Georgina Chapman in Marchesa
Shades of Grey
Although we could have done without the belt on Zoe's Dress, we were loving pale grey on the red carpet!
Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta + Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille
Ravishing in Red
Red as always, lends itself exceptionally well to these leading ladies
Jennifer Aniston in Valentino +  Kerry Washington in Miu Miu
Shining Moments
There are plenty of ways to wear sequins wrong especially now that sequins are flooding the red carpet. These gowns made the cut, thanks to Armani Prive.
Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive + Naomi Watts in Armani Prive
Bright Hues
These gowns reinvigorated the red carpet, and that black dart along Reese's gown is oh so flattering!
Jennifer Garner in Gucci (made just for her!)  + Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton
Fabulous over 50
Looking graceful, chic, and still daring in these totally age appropriate numbers!
Sally Field in Valentino
Emmanuelle Riva in Lanvin + Christopher Waltz and Judith Holste
Early 90's Called
Woah momma, this is just...too soon.
Jane Fonda in Verace + Maria Menounos in Romona Keveza
Kelly Rowland in Donna Karan + Halle Berry in Versace
Metallic Misfires
For every good sequin gown, there is a dark side that fails to sparkle as bright.
Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrera + Nicole Kidman in L'Wren Scott

Dresses and Gals each Desperately Seeking some Vitamin-D...
Is this another Twilight trailer? Ugh, no more please.
Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen + Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra
LES Misfits
The gowns weren't far from success, but poor tailoring killed it for us!
Anne Hathaway in Prada + Brandi Glanville in BrandiB
(it's the Oscars, a classy professional affair... might need to run back Bev Hills Brandi... where even your fellow housewives would have something to say about this number - we are SURE of it)
Manly Men
There's nothing wrong with a good bow-tie...
Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Gucci + Eddie RedMayne in Alexander McQueen
Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day Lewis in Domenico Vacca + Chris Pine in Ermenegildo Zegna

Red Carpet Hits and Misses

Celebrities and artists rocked the red carpet last night at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. But of course, while some outfits soared to the top, other flopped all the way to the bottom. Below are some of our favorite looks - and some of our favorite disasters - from the event. Which looks are at the top of your list? Let us know at https://twitter.com/MyDROBE!

The Best of the Best

Taylor Swift rocks this grecian-inspired J. Mendel gown. With a beaded band down her chest and delicate accessories, the singer is a vision in cream.

Rihanna wore a flowing and vibrant Azzedine Alaia gown with a matching lipstick hue. We love her soft waves and diamond bracelet.

Katy Perry sports a Gucci dress with chunky appliques on top... and no, we aren't referring to her overexposed bosoms. But hey, mint is a hot enough color to save the outfit.

Florals are IN right now, and we love this Valentino dress. On Adele, the look comes off a bit too structured, but we still love the idea of the look... and her!

Although singer Florence Welch is getting a lot of backlash for this shimmering emerald look, we're going to defend the artist and her Givenchy gown. Yes, it's a little bold with the reptile-esque scales, but it's bold, courageous and totally unique. Plus, emerald is the color of the year.

A Little Risqué...

Kelly Osbourne looks adorable in this Paule Ka dress. However, we think she could have touched up her purple dye a bit before the show to really make an impact.

Carrie Underwood in this Roberto Cavalli gown is undeniably sexy. But we think this dress may infringe a little too much on the lingerie/burlesque motif. But hey, she caught everyone's attention!

Alicia Keys looks cool and confident in this Azzedine Alaia gown. We love the glossy detailing on the bodice and her red fingernails that totally popped on the red carpet.

Okay, J. Lo, we get it already. Although this Anthony Vaccarello is certainly daring, we think it's a bit of an overkill. I mean, does a slit really have to go up that far? At least her shoes are fabulous...
