Marc Jacobs Gets Even

It's hard not to root for the little guy. David and Goliath, Ali and Frazier, and now, Kidult and Marc Jacobs. Usually I'd applaud the ballsy anti-consumerist antics of the graffiti artist only known as Kidult, but when the response of Marc Jacobs is so perfect it's hard not to slap Goliath on the back.

Two days ago, the Marc Jacobs store in Paris received a facelift. The number "686" was spray painted in huge green numbers, surrounded by dollar signs.

Credit for the work was taken by an anonymous twitter account, simply known as @therealkidult. The vandalism was a response to a similar situation a year before in SoHo.

The Marc Jacobs building in SoHo was smeared by pink spray paint, stating one word, "ART." In response, Marc Jacobs took the picture, pressed it on to tees, and sold it for $686.

A year later, the same method has thwarted the would-be anarchist. Marc Jacobs tweeted that they "support the arts" and is selling trucker hats (ew) and tee shirts with the new "686" graffiti printed on them.

There hasn't been any response from Kidult, but we're pretty sure there will be soon enough. Until then, Goliath has this round. Lets see what you've got, Kidult.

Check out some of our favorite Marc Jacobs pieces right here.

Serpentine Summer: London

On June 26th, the Serpentine Gallery in London held their famous Serpentine Summer Party, attracting attendees like Sarah Jessica Parker (Hello Carrie!) Mick Jagger, and Ewan McGregor. The party is a well known outdoor event held in a tea house pavilion in the center of Hyde Park.

We love you SJP! Looking stunning in a metallic Naeem Khan fringed flapper dress, and jewels by FL.

The  Serpentine Gallery is one of London's most famous art venues, and boasts a huge collection of modern and contemporary art. But this isn't just a place for art snobs. Supermodels and fashionistas alike wore event-holder L'Wren Scott's line, and they all looked stunning. Here are some of the looks.

Georgia Jagger in this gorgeous red beaded dress by L'Wren Scott

Naomi Campbell looking great in that David Koma dress and Alaia boots

Eva Herzigova also wearing L'Wren Scott

Daphne Guinness and L'Wren Scott both sporting L'Wren Scott dresses.

The gallery tries to pander to all ages through its architecture, art, and education. The gallery attracts about 800,000 people a year.

The Serpentine Gallery

The party serves as an annual fundraiser to support the gallery. It is known to be one of the hottest events in London, with an extremely selected guest list.

Beautiful Kate Moss dressed in a Saint Laurent black blazer over a sheer black dress with a plungin neck line. And of course, wearing Christian Louboutin black heels.

Designs from local artists and designers are shown all around the event, creating a beautiful artistic aura that makes tickets a desired rarity.

Versace for All?

Italian fashion powerhouse Versace may be going public, sources say. The brand opened their first boutique in Milan's Via de Spiga in 2000, a humble beginning for their now legendary status as a designer and  retailer.

Since that time, Versace has exploded. They design and market luxury clothing, accessories, make up, and home furnishings. It hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies for the brand, however. In 2001, they hit a financial crisis and had to restructure the company, and now it seems they are restructuring again, but this time in the form of an IPO.

We won't know the real truth until at least October, but that doesn't stop us from guessing. Now we know that their products are amazing, but will a public offering change that?

We've seen it too many times, and not just in fashion. A company that doesn't pander to investors and shareholders is a company that keeps its own style. We love Versace's style, and we're hoping things don't change for the worse.

Obviously there has been no deal set in stone, but there are musings from the top of the company that this is a definite possibility. Wall Street gurus are rubbing their hands together in anticipation for the cashflow that a public Versace could bring.

Versace's assets count for a lot more than just clothes. They're the only fashion company that also runs a hotel; a magnificent hotel at that. It's things like this that make the IPO a veritable tidal wave of money.

Enough with the here-say, I guess we're just going to have to wait and see what happens. Until then, Drobers.

Dolce and Gabbana Found Guilty

Italy has always had a strange relationship with their famous luxury designers. With a tax rate of almost 28%, luxury designers have long been the subject of accusations of tax evasion, but prior to Wednesday's guilty verdict for Italian designers Stefano Gabbana and Donenico Dolce, all charges of this kind had been dropped.

Now, to us, Dolce and Gabbana is only guilty of creating fabulous looks that we are constantly lusting over, but that sadly does not change the minds of Italian courts and legislatures.

The verdict stems from a long legal battle stretching back to the 2004 sale of the company to Luxembourg-based holding firm, Gado Srl. Luxembourg has a tax rate of nearly 0%, which the courts say allow Gado Srl to serve as a legal entity in which to evade taxes.

Along with the two designers, four other defendants, including the companies accountant, Dolce's brother Alfonso, general director Christina Ruella and finance director Giuseppe Minoni were handed varying sentences.

Luckily for the designers and their fellow defendants, Italy requires a minimum of three years sentencing in order for jail time to be physically served, so I don't think we'll be seeing them sporting stripes and a fashionable new ankle bracelet, but they may be missing some red carpets.

We're hoping a house arrest or a community service stint will allow the designers to keep pumping out our favorite clothes, and we wish them luck on their appeal.
